Phones off ebay?

I was talking to a friend today, and he said its cheaper to purchase a
phone off ebay then have verizon program it for you. Is this possible?
To buy a phone off ebay then bring it to verizon? Or how does this
work?? Thanks in advance

Jim

It works as long as the used phone originally came from Verizon. The only
"programming" necessary is automated. Just activate the phone online, dial
"*228" and you're good to go. If there's any doubt, ask for the ESN before
you buy and call Verizon customer service to verify that it can be
activated.

What he said. I've done it several times.

Yes, as he explained above. Your only concern is to make sure the esn
number is not associated with a phone (1), and also that the phone is
unlocked on verizon's side (2). dr
