vx8300, bitpim, writing sms

Hi,

I have a LG VX8300, just got a USB cable and downloaded bitpim.

The first thing I did was download the phone info into bitpim. I then
deleted most of the messages in my sms/inbox and then uploaded the
info (replace all) to the phone.

The problem/mystery here is that the messages I deleted using
bitpim still show up on the phone! No idea why.

FWIW, I was able to modify a part of a phone directory entry using
bitpim and the change uploaded just fine to the phone, so I know the
basic mechanics work.

I've looked around the bitpim site, and google'd but not been
able to find any info on this issue.

Can you upload/write updated sms info to your vx8300 using bitpim?

I have LG 8300 as well. Just wondering how you were able to open up
BitPim after you installed it? And what cable did you use? I went to
Verizon to pick up a cable but only able to transfer music? Is this the
same cable that you used? I need to retrieve deleted messages in my
cell phone for court. Please help.

Thanks!

Lynne

Instead or buying a cable, I got a cheap USB bluetooth adapter for my pc.
The bluetooth on the VX8300 works well with it, and it's easier than having
to deal with cables and drivers

FWIW, I bought/used the Verizon cable with BitPim without any problems
earlier this year. I think the docs for the verizon cable may say it's
only useful for music transfers, but it definitely does more.

(I ordered their music pack (??), came with software and a set of ear
phone - didn't use either, just the cable).

I am not sure about retrieving deleted messages though.

good luck,
