Sneaky price increase?

So, when did the price of sending and receiving text
messages go up to 15 cents?? I don't recall any notice
about that.

Remember the days when incoming text messages were all free?
Then 2 cents? Then 10 cents? Now 15 cents. Tomorrow, 25
cents??

March 1st was the start of the 0.15 text message for Verizon. There were notifications sent out in your bills for 2 months prior to the actual price increase. It was posted on VerizonWireless.com and My Account during that time period. Also, there was a lot of talk about it on the various forums and newsboards like this. If you missed it, you must have been living under a rock.

Verizon was actually one of the last to join the text increase train. It will only affect you if you do not currently subscribe to a messaging bundle. In fact, the messaging bundles got better when the increase went into affect. The $15.00 bundle went from 1000 messages to 1500 and the $20.00 bundle went from 2500 to 5000 messages for other networks.

But not as good as the $5/unlimited plan they used to offer.

Mine are now 0¢ as I had them turn off all text messaging on my account
after the last price increase. Obviously they are trying to push people
to sign up for a monthly messaging plan.

-but doesn't turning off text messaging disable the voicemail message
notification?

they can.

Hmm...156 bytes/message x 1500 = 234KB for $15....or....$64,102.56 per
Gigabyte.

That's a real saving of $32,051.29/GB down from $96,153.85/GB at 1000
messages like it was before!

Now, if we buy it piecemeal per message...156 bytes for $0.15 =
$961,538.46/Gigabyte, so you're really getting a huge bargain if you buy
1500 messages at a time, saving $929,487.17/GB, enough to buy some really
nice waterfront property or a 100' motoryacht, complete with dock.

How much would your cable bill cost you if they charged you
$32,051.29/GB?

For the price of a Gigabyte from Verizon Wireless, you can buy a pretty
nice, brand new SUV!

Isn't that a real bargain?!

I could care less about SMS'ing other networks...as long as I have
unlimited messaging within VZW. If I want to send more than 50 messages
to cell phones on another networks (something I've never done in 13
years of using SMS), I'll just use email.
