#1 | | Guest | Can't decide betwen LG VX8300 and VX8600
I like the 8600 since its slick and thin. The 8300 is bulkier.
However I don't want to give up battery life, call quality and
speakerphone quality.
Are there any advantages with the 8300 vs. the 8600
Thanks

#2 | | Guest | The 8300 is an excellent phone and both models have great reviews. I like
the look and feel of the 8600 although the glossy finish picks up every
smudge. I'm not sure you can still buy the 8600 at least through VWZ

#3 | | Guest | I have the 8300, and it works great from my house in Glastonbury CT where
the signal strength is low. The 8300 has a stub antenna. I think the 8600
has a built in antenna. A Verizon support person said the stub antenna is
better because it is farther away from your head, allowing better
transmission and reception of the signal. I have no way of verifying this,
but it is food for thought. Charles Ranheim.

#4 | | Guest | I looked longingly at the 8600 also, before getting my Razr. The deal-killer
was that the 8600 had no "missed call beep". Maybe sounds stupid to you, but
I have had that feature for many years and didn't feel I should have to give
it up.
I've had excellent luck with the Razr, though the software is a tad flaky.
The wife went with the 8300. That thing is a hammer. Everything electronic
she touches turns to junk. Not this phone. So far, she hasn't been able to
kill it. Best thing LG's come out with yet. They'll probably kill it off for
being too good, like Moto killed the StarTac.

#6 | | Guest | If you care about speakerphone, the 8300 is your only choice. The
speakerphone on the 8600 is worse than garbage. It's totally useless. The
8300 has one of the best speakerphones ever produced.

phhone ringing from across the room and it would go " beep" reall loud. I
loved that.

#8 | | Guest | I beg to differ. Unless there's a setting nobody can seem to find, the 8600
beeps ONCE, right after the phone stops ringing, and that's it.
What good is a missed call beep that beeps WHEN you miss the call? If I
heard the call in the first place, I wouldn't need the beep!!! LOL
Very often, I have to leave the phone in my car. The beep is invaluable to
me......and yes, I know it beeps for voicemails, but many people don't like
to leave them if the call isn't critical.
If I and every phone guy I spoke with missed a setting somewhere, let me
know. I'd bet quite a few people took a pass on this phone because of the
lack of that feature.

#9 | | Guest | It doesn't make sense... because if you leave it in the car, and upon
retruning, you should just take a look at the phone, so i don't think you
should depends on the phone to remind you that you have a missed call.
depsite that feature, lot of people are sleeping on this phone, and that
missed beep alert may/may not come back in later model, i"m not sure, but
theres alway going to be something new. Everytime I leave work, resturant,
mall, movies.. I check the phone for any missed beeps, so I don't think its'
a con.. I think it's a feature that people have got used to it, and can't
live without it. same goes for the camera, and bluetooth

Of course. The phone should be your primary focus. You shouldn't be wasting
your attention on the meeting you just had, or the followup duties you have
regarding the meeting, or who you might have to call to make arrangements,
or whether you have any gasoline in the car, or whether that guy walking
toward you has a gun in his hand, you should be concentrating on that
phone to see if anyone called, because the phone maker couldn't be
bothered with setting up a reminder beep as so many other phone makers
have done for so many years. How could I have been so foolish?

1) you shouldn't leave the phone on during the meeting
2) if it's important, leave a message
3) what's the chance of you having gun in your face while u checking the
messages? doesnt make sense.
Of course it make make sense. Let the phone "beep" while ure in meeting
with your boss, after he stressed that cell phone to be turned off.
C"mon..I think the beep is totally useless if you work in a office, or
whatever. My point is.. check the phoen when you have time, you shouldn't
live for the cell phone beep and you should start living for urself.
