I wonder if Sprint will attempt to convert the NExtel purchase to CDMA?

iDEN is an aging technology and Nextel is said to already have an iDEN to CDMA
bridge and wants to migrate to CDMA (over time). It's one of the reasons the
Sprint-Nextel merger is a good idea from the carriers' points of view.

NEXTEL uses a technology called iDen, it is yet another variation of TDMA. They
had announced plans to move to CDMA but to my knowledge they are still in the
    planning stages.
