If a SIM card has already been used and the owner of the phone cancels his
service & sells the phone (with the SIM card still in it), can the new owner
activated a new line of service (with the same carrier) and burn the new
number into the original SIM if a replacement is not available?

I tried it and it worked. That was about a week ago. Is there any chance
it might quit working?
