Razr V3 Keypad tones?

Apologies, I'm new to this stuff.

A friend bought a Razr (I had already just bought one) and asked me if
I had figured out how to make the keypad tones audible. I found
settings/ringstyles/style detail and the 1-7 slider, but the tones were
still barely audible at 7. I called customer support and they said the
phones simply didn't have loud keytones. The person I spoke with said
"but you can hear them when the phone is to your ear". ??? Kind of
defeats the purpose. With such a wonderful speakerphone, is it
possible that the keytones are that pathetic?

If anyone could give me some guidance, I would sincerely appreciate
it.
