Hello.
My question is: is it possible to buy a new cell phone from Verizon
Wireless because your old one broke, and they'll give you the same
price on it as the two year plan price? For example, the phone I am
leaning towards is the LG VX7000, and currently, online, it was $129.99
with a new two year plan. But, it has a 50 dollar discount also, so it
would add up to $79.99. Could I get that price, or are they going to
make me pay for a whole new phone period. If you need me to explain
this more thoroughly, let me know. Thanks in advance.
Remember, I am already a Verizon Wireless customer.

Most carriers will discount the price of the phone, if you'll
extend your current contract.

Correct. To get the discount, you have to sign a new contract and you
likely won't be grandfathered into the plan that you had before. With
Verizon, you can keep your existing plan, but then you have to pay full
price for the phone, without a new contract.
I have done that twice now(i.e. bought a new phone and kept my old plan),
but it was obvious to me, that they would rather you take a new plan
(costing more money), because they will not offer you the ability to keep
your old plan and just pay for the phone outright. Not until you insist,
that is what you wish to do, will they say you can do it. They don't
want to push for you to keep your old plan.
They want more money.
