A couple months or so ago I got a message from Cingular that said my
Justalk TDMA phone would cease to work at the end of September.
And sure enough it did. It was working on Fri the 30th and on Sat
the 1st it wasn't working. So is there much I can still use this thing
for? I'm not about to go for Cingulars expensive prepaid service.

Re: Cingular true to their word
As I'm in the UK, Im making a couple of assumptions here,but....
Unlock it (a search on google for 'Unlock Cell Phone' or 'Unlock Mobile
Phone' should give a few leads.) then buy a Virgin or TMobile Sim,
Prepaid or whatever and away you go. Virgin is good as they let you
run pay as you go like pay monthly (But WITHOUT line rental) see
www.virgin.com/mobile, and choose your country.
Hope this helps

You probably can no longer use it.
You can get inexpensive prepaid TDMA service from
http://gobeyondwireless.com or http://www.callpluswireless.com/ but you
need a phone that was on AT&T's TDMA network, NOT one that was on
Cingular's TDMA network (the fact that AT&T and Cingular have merged is
irrelevant in this case).
Of course in probably another year or two, TDMA will be turned off, and
you'll have to get something else.
Beyond Wireless is offering a used Nokia 5165 and a $10 credit on time
for $10.
Beyond Wireless doesn't offer all area codes, but there is no problem
with getting a phone with an out of area area code.

Forgot to mention, as always, your best source for information about
prepaid U.S. wireless is http://prepaiduswireless.com/.
