TracFone
CDMA models (v120, v60i, 2285, c343, 5180i) all allow roaming.
The v120, v60i, and c343 models are trimode (meaning they cover 800+1900Mhz
bands, digital, and analog modes).
When roaming on the
CDMA models, the cost per minute jumps to 2 times the
local rate.
TracFone has refurbished models you can get for free with purchase of a $20
(40 minute) airtime card from the tracfone website..
TracFone has more free airtime promotions than all the other prepaid
companies combined. Get a Refer-A-Friend referral from another TracFone
user *before* you activate and get 100 free minutes.
For emergency (minimal) use, you can keep a TracFone activated for as little
as $10 a month.
Minutes never expire as long as you add airtime minutes before the due date
shown in the display. Due dates are normally set to 60 days after adding
airtime to the airtime tank in the TracFone.
No other prepaid plan puts minutes (units) remaining and due date on their
display.
No charge or penalty for deactivation at anytime - other than loosing your
remaining airtime minutes. Remaining airtime can be transferred to another
TracFone if upgrading to a different model.
