Anyway, I have some odd questions about sim cards and such, if anyone
cares to answer these questions. I know some/most/all phones in the us
are locked into carrier specific sim cards, and I also know that
cingular, nextel, t-mobile, and some tracfones use sim cards. But, what
I don't know is why they lock phones. And can't really ask questions
like that to reps in those companies (I get the same type of answers as
I get when I asked verizon about why you can't activate contract phones
as prepaids (very possible btw)) and also why we are not supposed to
sell sim cards unactivated (I understand some of the fears, mostly
about, um, wrong term here, unlocking a sim so you can use the service
without paying for it, but are there any other concerns the companies
have? I'd also like to know the specifics without the technical "how
to" information, about how to unlock these, both the cell phones and
the sim cards, and what types of problems arise from doing this, as
well as the problems that I have heard about when you use a sim card
from one company with a phone from a different one.
Eather odd or stupid questions, but thanks in advance for indulging me.
Oh, and one more that has been bugging me forever. Is it possible to
activate a virgin mobile phone on the sprint network or a sprint phone
on the virgin moble network, assuming you can get past the esn block?
