Phone: Samsung SCH-A630
Carrier: US Verizon Wireless (Chicago)

My phone is not directly supported under BitPim, so the only thing I
can do is access the file system. My questions:

1. Where should ringers/wall papers be placed? I have tried
/user/sound/ringer (directories I had to create) but to no avail. When
I try to change my ringer type on the phone, nothing of what I loaded
is displayed under 'preloaded' & 'my download' (which tells me,
"download first"). I have searched & have seen my question come up in
various places, but it seems no one knows or has done it successfully,
which leads me to ask:

2. What is the spec/protocol/implementation/etc. called? There are lots
of files & folders that I do not know what they mean (for example, nvm,
ems, sms, etc). Is this a standard that various phones try to follow?
Is it called 'Brew'? Only thing I really can identify are my PRL's as I
had to mess with those when I erased the eeprom one time (on an
sch-a650). But if someone can direct me to a resource that can help me
understand what these files are/mean, that'd help greatly. I'm an avid
programmer, so computer mumbo jumbo doesn't bother me. I just need some
formal documentation of what all these phones are trying to follow. As
of now, I'm downloading the Brew SDK & will be looking into the source
code for BitPim over @ sourceforge to help me understand, but if anyone
can offer any help/pointers, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Question #2 is more valuable to me, though Question #1 wouldn't hurt
