    I have t-mobile and my phone is a nokia 6101. I recently purchased a
data cable for it because buying ringtones not only sucks, they are
    rarely ringtones I like.

My question is: how do you get the software from t-mobile/nokia so that
you're able to access your phone from your desktop? It must exist and
probably in a pretty obvious place, but cell phones are pretty alien
    technology for me.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

try going to www.nokia.com and downloading their nokia suite, software
for just what you want to do. Beware though, from what I have seen many
aftermarket cables will not work very well. They are designed differently
    than the Nokia cable.
The software, by the way is free. And it has the drivers needed for the
official cables, and apparently sometimes work with the 3rd party cables.
Link to the software page for your phone.

By the way, look around the site a bit, they have a lot of useful info.

Thanks, I have the suite now. A new problem arises: it tries to install
"USB Serial Controller C" and despite what I do it cannot install the
drivers to connect, even though the drivers were installed with the
    suite.

Do you know what to do from this error?
