Can anyone tell me what carriers will allow you to keep same phone
number when changing from a post pay to a prepay account? Specifically
does VIRGIN MOBILE allow for that if you open a new account and and
want to cancel a postpay account with another carrier?
I understand there are Federal and State phone number portability
regulations requiring that option but most sales people don't want to
get involved with this.

Two of my sisters-in-law tried to switch to Sprint postpay from Virgin Mobile
prepaid. Sprint will not port the numbers. Unlike T-Mo to T-Mo, Virgin to
Sprint involves two different companies. Not sure if that's part of the
reason why.

Actually, I misspoke. One switched to T-Mo postpay from Virgin, the other to
Nextel.
