connect phone to PC

Hello

I just got my first cell phone ever, so I dont know much about them,
other than the one I have ( which was a friends and older model does
not have the features I would like. Currently I am living in China and
do not speak or write Chinese. I want to send text messages which I
will translate on the internet and then download to the cell phone I
would also upload the Chinese messages from my phone and then translate
into english. Are there phones which can be connected to a PC which
will allow me to transfer SMS text messages? If so does anybody have
any recomendations.

capabilities...
