Getting angry about something that you do not understand is a waste of
energy. First of all, the technology involved,
CDMA, means that the phones
have to have special firmware to work on a carrier. That limits the choice
of phones. And this is not something that can be changed easily.
Plus, Sprint does sell the phones without a plan. They just cost more.
The carriers are in business to make money. They sell the phones at a
discount so that they can make money on the plans.
And the op is on month to month, so there is nothing to keep him from
moving to another carrier and getting a phone there.
