There is a procedure they sell it on Ebay. I bought it myself but didn't
need it when I purchased my Sidekick 2 on Ebay. Ask the seller if it's
    locked before you buy it.

uhhh... Won't T-Mo unlock phones for you if you've been a customer long
enough? Does that policy extend to data devices too?

Yes, as long as you are still a customer. (You can't cancel and then
    ask for the code.)
Does that policy extend to data devices too?

I'm not sure (as far as PC cards go,) but either way, the Sidekick's
    considered a phone.
A bigger problem for the OP is the nature of the Sidekick itself.
Unlike a typical data-enabled phone that uses a "regular" cellular data
connection, the Sidekick only communicates with a special server set up
    by "Danger," the device's manufacturer.

Unless the carrier in Ireland sells Sidekicks (generally known outside
the USA as "Danger Hiptops") and therefore sells the special Hiptop-
compatible data plan, the Sidekick will not be able to browse the web,
use e-mail, IM, or even act as a PDA, since the calendar and contacts,
etc., IIRC, are stored online at the Danger server.

Without the data plan the SK is a big ugly akward phone that can only
    make calls and text.

That reliance on an "incompatible" server is why, (in addition to it's
kiddy-ness and the fact Paris Hilton had one!) I have never considered
    owning a Sidekick.

Ta very much for that, just showed the replies to my daughter and
