I got a Samsung u420 from Alltel. They said there was no software for
it. I browsed around and found mixed references to it. Bought a USB
cable and software package from Cosia.com which doesn't work. Anybody
know how to get this thing to do some simple stuff like maybe charge
via usb? Maybe backup my phone book?
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Any software for Samsung u420 (Alltel, USB)?
Your best bet would be to check out this thread: http://cellphoneforums.net/samsung/t...eice-crap.html
To answer your questions, I don't think it is possible to charge via USB, but that would most likely depend on the cable. As for backing up your contacts, it is possible (it is just a file on the phone). However, actually editing the contacts or adding them to an address book on your computer is another story. It would depend on finding an application capable of reading the U420's format for storing contact info.
On the brighter side, what is possible so far is adding ringtones and wallpaper, and retrieving camera pictures. This is explained in the aforementioned thread.
Hope that helps!
