Blackberry work in South america

Will my Blackberry get emails in South America (Argentina) through
T-mobile and will I be charged extra?

Thanks

Yes and yes, according to T-Mo's website's international roaming page.
Voice is $1.99/minute, and data is $15.36/MB. (You might want to turn
off any automatic "download attachments" function!)

Is there any way to turn off the phone (voice) feautures, yet allow the
Blackberry features? I am wondering if I will be charged for incoming
calls I don't answer that they put through to SA. Sprint used to do
that so you would get hit for charges even if you never placed or
answered a call if you left your phone on.

BTW, $15/MB is not bad if you don't get attachments. I would guess that
could be several hundred average length emails (text only).

Sure- forward all of your calls to a different number (i.e. your office)
BEFORE you leave this country.

Yes, because the SA company has to deliver the call to your phone even if
you don't answer, so they charge the minimum (1 minute.) At two bucks
per unanswered call that really adds up. If you set up forwarding BEFORE
you leave, T-Mo forwards the calls somewhere before the SA company gets
their mitts on it, so you don't rack up any charges. If you forward
after you get there, you're screwed because the SA company handles the
forwards, and dings you a minute for each forward.

For the same reason- the foreign company handled the call and charged you
a minute for the privilege.

Have a safe trip!

Agreed. Certainly cheaper than talking at $2/minute, and cheaper than
texting. I forgot to check the text rate, but IIRC it's 25 or 30-cents.
Given that a text message can be only 160 characters or so, that's
roughly $1.50-$2/KB vs. $0.015/kb GPRS data!
