I have been told that most operators' PLMNs don't support Cell
Broadcast. I know that a Cell Broadcast Centre is needed, but I have
been told that a control hardware device is needed in each BTS as well.
Can anyone tell me the correct name of that device so I can look it up?

    Best regards

    Hello Peter

In most BSS that I familiar with no additional hardware is required
    exept of the CBC.
If you have Huawei BSS then additional hardware is required in each BSC
    called CDB.
But you must have the CB supported software in both BSC and BTS.
In UMTS basiclly it's the same, but in each node-B you need BMC
(Broadcast multicast Controler) entity - I'm not sure if it means SW
only or maybe HW as well (seems to me vendor specific).
    I hope its help

    Hi,

    Thanks for your answer!

Is that supported as standard? E.g. in Nokia's and Ericsson's BSCs
    and BTSs?

    Yes, that's right.
In all cases I know - the software is part of the general release, and
the operator should ask to enable it.
    the standard is 3GPP 23.041.
