I'm an Alltel U-prepaid user. My phone (LG ax4270) got wet and no longer
    works.

I don't have a near by retailer that can answer questions, so, I'm trying
    here.

I know I can replace the phone and keep my number and prepaid balance - the
Alltel web page says so. Where do I go to get a new phone? I'd rather not
pay the full retail non-contract price for the replacement. If I get a used
phone off Ebay can I have it activated on my current account? How would I
    go about doing that?

I know how to enter phone numbers using the service modes. I don't know how
to deal with ESN's and the network.

    Thanks for any ideas,

    Peter

My CDMA phone broke, quite a while ago, on a Sunday, when I dropped it.
I used an AMPS bagphone to call 611 on Alltel, and explained my
predicament to the TSR. "I can activate that bagphone for you, wait one
minute.", he said, to my astonishment, after getting my information and
opening my account. "Use the bagphone until you can get into the store
to get your phone fixed or get a new phone.", he continued, having
already activated this ESN to my account.

I got a new phone a few months later, after I found out one of my
competitors was listening to my AMPS calls on his scanner and was stupid
enough to call one of my customers to try to steal his business from me.
I went back on CDMA after that....

Thanks, Alltel....great service, today, returning the M800 so easily.
