Someone suggested this for the Cingular phone (An LG) that I had. Call
your carrier, and feed them the line that you are leaving soon for a
trip to Mexico and plan to get a Mexican SIMS card (That is if your
phone uses one :-) )). And ask them for the unlock code. She had it
emailed to be in a couple or three days. Worked perfect. Now I have
two extra spare unlocked phones.
