The mobile signal is very weak in my office and I was wondering if there
was a phone I could buy which was particularly good at recieving mobile
phone signals. I'm assuming they can't all be the same and that some
phones are better than others when it comes to ability to recieve
signal.
Anyone know which would be the best phone to look out for? Surely
there must be a 'killer' product out there somewhere for all those
people who need better reception?
(p.s. don't want a signal booster as they're quite expensive. Prefer to
try and find a decent phone instead)

Re: Phone with best reception
Since you don't say which provider you are with, in general, a Motorola
phone typically has the best reception.

It won't matter. The carriers have reduced the power of the toyphone
transmitters so low, now, that you won't be able to talk back to the
tower so even if you could get a signal it won't hear you...no service.
Might I suggest a building repeater to benefit everyone in the office:
http://www.cellantenna.com/repeater/cae50_gemini.htm
Notice it says to go up to the roof of your building and measure your
signal up there. Look for 3 bars (-75dbm) of signal on the roof. If you
have a good signal on the roof, the repeaters will give you a great
signal inside your office with only a simple little wiring. The cell/pcs
repeater works on all carriers except Nextel, which is in a different
frequency band. So, everyone, on any system, gets a good signal around
the office after its installation. Test each system's signal level up on
the roof, not just yours, to see how well it will work.
The amp boosts your tiny transmitter up to the high-gain antenna, as well
as the signal coming in from the cells. Makes you loud enough to hear,
too!
