If you need to us the W850i's then you are probably restricted to
T-Mobile's prepaid offering in the US, i.e.

Cingular, and its resellers, may not work where you are without
GSM 850
support on the phone. T-Mobile may not give you service if you travel
in their national roaming areas, either, but they are at least 1900 MHz
where they have native coverage (which includes most cities and suburban
areas).
T-Mobile's price covers calls to anywhere in the US, but their
international calling rates are repulsive. You may need to look
for a calling card to get decent rates to the UK.
I don't know anything about T-Mobile Internet access, though the
web page above has a few suggestive comments.
