HI a friend went to the Nextel store 1x and the clerk as he was
describing features hit some key combination and it appeared to be
some sort of log or something i have not been able to duplicate. It is
a Motorola i205 anyone know about it?

    Dial
    ##33284 (##DEBUG)

The last "4" won't show when its dialed.

To toggle between the debug displays, and there are many, and the main
prettyscreen press the Center then Left keys under the display in rapid
succession. You can leave it in this mode so you can switch to it and
find out what your connection looks like. To turn debug off, dial it
    again.

Somewhere here I have a map of what the numbers mean, but can't find it
at the moment. The most significant numbers are on the first screen.

You should see it switching the two left numbers in the top row if it can
hear the pilots. The left number in the 3rd row down is in -dbm, the
signal strength of the pilot from the cell (or your cell's carrier if
you're on the air). IDL means the phone is IDLE, not connected. Under
IDL is a number that's XX.XX and that's the percent of errors it's
correcting until it crashes, of course. The middle two numbers on the
bottom row the system/carrier it's connected to. I'm on Alltel 156 so it
    reads 0 156 10XB2. I can't remember what XB2 means...??

Dial 611 while watching the display. IDL will change to ORG then TCI
then CON (connected), if things go right. The percentage number will
start changing. I'm showing .97% as I thpe this at -100 dbm under the
computer. Your channel number is the first number in the second row and
its quality rating is the 2nd number in the 2nd row. Pilot is the upper
left number and its quality is the 2nd number in the first row.

I forget what the others mean. Maybe someone will post the map text file
in answer to this post.....The others are insignificant to you.

Other pages have parameters you can change, but if it crashes hard from
    you screwing around with them, don't blame me or your carrier....(c;

It seemed as if it was a log of numbers or such called or received but
not accessible by standard consumer key sequences. When i asked the
clerk he brushed it off and i got quite suspicious.

Ask for your detailed bill. Their system keeps track of EVERY phone call
in or out so the FBI can know what you're doing.....

Orwell only had the date wrong.....

How funny. Every phone I have owned had a log of calls made, calls recieved
and missed calls. All it takes to find them is to read the owners manual,
or simply explore your phone. NO wonder the sales person brushed it off, it
is almost as if you were amazed that you could call out on your phone.
Although I suppose that he actually just told you it was your call log, and
that you could find it yourself.

YOU are assuming it is that simple. Of course i have the manual! This
went beyond the manual and made the clerk uncomfortable when i tried
to find out what he did
