I don't suppose you saw (last Monday on ION) the episode of
Diagnosis Murder called "Murder on the Run" (part 1), where a
convicted murderer was one of the many patients in a plane crash or
something like that (I missed the start of the program), and he
pulled a handgun on his E.R. physician and abducted him. Another
doctor saw them leaving the building and followed them in his car,
but without a cellphone. After he saw a warehouse where they had
driven to, he tried to use a payphone, but it was out of order.
Then he tried to flag down cars to make an emergency phone call,
was refused by several, finally reached into one car and grabbed
the phoneset, but the driver stepped on the gas and the phoneset
tore off in the doctor's hand. Six of one half dozen of other
whether it's easier to find payphone that actually works or flag
down motorist.
