Cell Phones cause Mentla Retardation

Hold the Phone? Radiation from cell phones hurts rats' brains
Kendall Morgan

A single 2-hour exposure to the microwaves emitted by some cell phones
kills brain cells in rats, a group of Swedish researchers claims. If
confirmed, the results would be the first to directly link cell-phone
radiation to brain damage in any animal.

HANG UP? Radiation emitted by cell phones kills brain cells in rats.

No such evidence exists for people. But with cell-phone use
skyrocketing, some scientists recommend precautionary measures—for
example, avoiding excessive gabbing on the phones.

Digital cell phones send out compressed information through microwave
pulses of electromagnetic radiation. In the United States, standard
phones emit 50 such pulses per second, while so-called GSM
phones—which operate under the international standard called Global
System for Mobile Communications—emit 217. Those pulses scatter
low-level microwave radiation across the brain. To date, convincing
evidence linking the phones to serious health problems, such as
cancer, is lacking, says Leif G. Salford of Lund University Hospital
in Sweden.

Even so, he and his colleagues are still looking for such connections.
About 10 years ago, they showed that cell-phone radiation causes the
protective barrier in rats' brains to leak, permitting blood proteins
that are normally kept away from brain tissue to contact neurons.

Now, Salford's team reports in a forthcoming Environmental Health
Perspectives that this breach of the so-called blood-brain barrier is
accompanied by the death of brain cells.

Adolescent rats were exposed for 2 hours to GSM phones at one of three
power levels: 0.01, 0.1, or 1 watt (W). Rats in a control group were
not exposed. Cell phones typically operate at a peak output power of
0.6 W.

Examination of the animals' brain tissue 50 days later revealed that
up to 2 percent of the brain cells of rats that had received
cell-phone radiation exposures of 0.1 watt or greater were dead or
dying. The hippocampus, cortex, and brain stem suffered the most
damage. The other groups showed no significant brain-cell death.

Salford cautions that the results may not apply to real-world
cell-phone use. On the other hand, he notes, "there might be negative
consequences in the long run."

Previous studies have shown a variety of biological effects of cell
phone-type radiation, but no convincing evidence of health damage (SN:
6/29/02, p. 404: http://sciencenews.org/20020629/fob3.asp; 5/20/00,
p.326: Available to subscribers at
http://sciencenews.org/20000520/fob5.asp; 2/12/00, p. 100:
http://www.sciencenews.org/20000212/fob1.asp).

Henry C. Lai of the University of Washington in Seattle finds
Salford's new results "quite intriguing." He says, "The energy
absorbed by the rats was really low compared to what a person gets
when using a cell phone." Particularly if the effects add up over
time, Lai says, regular use of cell phones could be problematic.

And it's not just the phones. In the modern, wireless office, people
are increasingly exposed to a "sea of microwaves," says neuroscientist
W. Ross Adey of Loma Linda University in California. "You have to ask,
How much can people handle before it becomes a significant problem?"
he says.

For the record, Salford himself does use a cell phone. To limit his
exposure, however, he cuts calls short and distances himself from the
phone with a hands-free headset.

Help Reduce Your Brain's Exposure to Cell Phone Radiation: This
Simple, Inexpensive Tool May Be Just What You Need!

Although the cell phone industry continues to claim that their
products are safe, there is still no scientific data available to
prove this. Evidence to the contrary, however, is mounting every day.

Proven Protection from Cell Phone RFs!

Ferrite Beads that attach easily to cell phone headsets may offer
protection against cell phone radiation. Order these affordable beads
now!

In essence, your cell phone is a radio. When you talk on your cell
phone, your voice is transmitted from the antenna as radio frequency
radiation (RFR) between 800 MHz and 1,990 MHz. This frequency falls in
the range of microwave radiation and, when you are exposed to it,
there may be a chance of health consequences.

Depending on how close the cell phone antenna is to your head, between
20% and 60% of the radiation emitted by your cell phone is transferred
into your head. The radiation actually penetrates the area around your
head and is absorbed, with some radiation reaching an inch, to an inch
and a half, into your brain.

Cell phones are designed to transmit radio waves in all directions
because base stations can be located in any direction with respect to
phone users. This means that portions of the radio waves they produce
are directed towards your body. The diagram of the person and the
radio tower illustrates how this can occur.

Potential Health Concerns Caused By Radiation

There have been a number of contradictory reports made as to the
overall effects cell phones can have on your health. However, a report
in the prestigious medical journal The Lancet, considered the most
comprehensive and well-referenced report on this topic to date, warns
that the potential problems from cell phones can NOT be dismissed.

Combined with the growing body of evidence we are seeing in addition
to this study, the information available today, on the potential
effects of cell phones, gives strong support to the notion that cell
phones may affect multiple facets of your brain function, behavior and
health in general.

Headsets: Not As Safe As You Thought

Since radiation decreases exponentially, (one over the square root
over the distance between you and you phone) we thought by using a
headset so you could hold the phone away from your body would solve
the problem. However, recent investigations tell us that headsets may
actually intensify your exposure to harmful EMFs emitted by your cell
phone.

Contrary to popular belief, research conducted by British consumer
research magazine Which? indicates that hands-free cell phone kits may
significantly INCREASE your brain's exposure to radiation. The
findings confirmed claims that that using hands-free earpieces in
certain positions could more than TRIPLE your brain's exposure to
radiation compared to a conventional cell phone call.

By itself, headset can act as an antenna that actually channels
radiation to your brain.

Ferrite Beads May Help Block Radio Frequencies

So as you now know, I believe that the danger of using cell phones is
very real. I have known of this for a quite some time now but didn't
really have great options to offer.

If you are one of the lucky ones that have a cell phone that can work
on speakerphone then you already have your solution. You just need to
use your speakerphone. Doing so will greatly decrease your exposure to
both EMFs and radio frequencies (RF).

However, using a speakerphone can present a problem if you are in a
noisy environment or it just isn't convenient to use. If this is a
case, you can use a ferrite bead attached to your headset as another
option.

While they do not block EMFs, ferrite beads are an effective solution
to limit unwanted RF interference, which may help decrease their
tissue-heating effects on your brain.

Horse****. Pure horse****. I'm 61. Got my ham license when I
was 11 in 1957. I've also been in broadcasting since I was 18,
on and off, at the transmitters in fields so strong the
flourescent lights didn't need AC power and ran on their own.

I do not glow in the dark, have tumors, haven't been to a doctor
since 1986, don't take any drugs or smoke any more. I'm fine.
An old ham friend of mine, who was into RF radiation since the
1920's died of OLD AGE when his heart stopped in his sleep at 92.
He worked in broadcasting when the first transmitters in the
state came on the air in the 1930's. After fighting in WW2, as a
radio technician of course, he was the first Motorola Two-Way
radio dealer in SC. His son, exposed to RF fields also all his
life since a tiny boy hanging out around daddy's radio biz, runs
the business now. He doesn't glow or have 3 heads, either.

Tell you what....take your OWN realistic survey.....

Visit all the most powerful AM, FM and TV transmitters within 100
miles of your home. Figure out the average age of all the
transmitter engineers at these stations. Find out how many of
them get to retire after being cooked from the inside out by all
those dangerous waves passing through their bodies 60-80 hours a
week....not just a few pulses during a Sellcall. Get some
transmitter tours in the real world. If you can still find
someone doing pagers, try to get them to show you their multiple
500 watt powerful paging transmitters, close up. I worked on
them, too! Remember how astonished you were when all 18 of our
paging transmitters on the same frequency made your little pocket
pager beep even if you were deep in a building? POWER is our
FRIEND!....always.

The most powerful TV transmitter in Charleston, SC, is FOX 24 on
UHF running 25,000,000 watts ERP (effective radiated power, which
includes the antenna gain minus the line losses). That's
hundreds of thousands of times more power spewing out
CONTINUOUSLY, 24/7 than your little peanut whistle toyphone
transmitter. Don't you think "someone" would be raising hell,
for the children, if 25 million watts on 500 Mhz were cookin' em?

Here, let's look at Google Earth for a second. I wanna show you
something really neat!.......

Boot Google Earth.
Tell it to Fly to: Robin Lane, Hamburg, NY 14075
Zoom into Robin Lane to about 5000 ft altitude.
With north up, Look at the junction of Robin Lane and Clarkwood
Drive.

To the left of this intersection is a large 3-tower AM radio
station every teenager from the Rock'nRoll generation grew up
with, the 50,000 Watt blowtorch of WKBW, Buffalo 1, NY. This has
been the transmitter site for the best rock station in American
history. WKBW is now WWKB owned by a bunch of complete idiots
who are spewing stupid talk radio on our beloved rock giant, but
that's another story.

Here's their license and power level:
http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/amq?list=0&facid=34383

Here's the directional pattern of the three phased array antennas
on 1520 Khz beaming all that power NE to SE away from other
stations in the west it would tear up on one tower at night.
Yes, I know it's way below cellular phone frequencies but it
makes up for it with sheer POWER.
ftp://www.fcc.gov/pub/Bureaus/MB/Dat...tterns/314204-
22784.pdf
The voltage levels on this chart, somewhere around 4 VOLTS per
meter intensity are taken one KILOMETER from these towers. The
outer ring of the pattern chart is 5V/meter...a strong RF field
because this station has a range out into the Atlantic from Maine
to Cape Hatteras. I lived near Syracuse and could hear them on a
simply crystal set built out of an oatmeal box. They are one of
the most power stations in the country.

Ok, now lets look at the VICTIMS of this obvious government-
sponsored abuse!

Zoom in on the corner of Robin Land and Clarkwood Drive. See
those houses in this nice, middle-class neighborhood of Hamburg,
NY? That pattern is right OVER THEIR HOUSES. I bet if we
measured the RF intensity...CONTINUOUS INTENSITY 24 HOURS A DAY,
7 DAYS A WEEK, the houses at this corner, hell, the whole
neighborhood, would have a hundred volts per meter, maybe 500 v/m
in them! I bet there are a LOT of lights in those houses that
glow 24/7 even when the switches are OFF! 50,000 watts is
INTENSIFIED by the directional antennas that are as close as ONLY
141 YARDS from some of them!

This RF field is thousands of times more intense than you'd get
if you swallowed your in-call SELLphone! I bet not one kid was
ever found dead or dying from RF exposure. I bet there are some
seriously OLD people living in some of these houses.

Is anyone near Hamburg that can do a little surveying for us to
find out the TRUTH?!

Other very intensive RF fields spew out at much higher
frequencies from their neighbor to the west. See the tall red
and white tower north of the 3-tower AM array...Right to the east
of the big transmitter building that used to run a monstrous tube
transmitter, back in the good ol days? That tower has a 100,000
watt FM radio transmitter on the FM radio band, adding to all the
cancers, cataracts, blown toaster ovens, fried TV sets, and some
REALLY nasty sounding stereos these sure-to-die people are
exposing themselves to! How awful! I'm not sure if the tower is
also the home of WKBW's VHF TV station or not. I don't see a big
batwing VHF TV antenna on top of that tower from Google's view.
That would add, yet, ANOTHER 316,000 watts of high intensity RF
to this cooked neighborhood.

Listening to the SELLular scare tactics, shouldn't everyone
within a couple miles around WKBW...er, ah, WWKB (damned fools
changed the call)...SHOULD BE DEAD ALREADY!

They're not, nor are the great engineers I'd like to thank all
these years for providing THIS pimply-faced teenager with some
really GREAT music and wonderful memories. WKBW ROCKED!

Larry

See that doghouse at the base of each of the 3 AM towers? You
boys just GOTTA be in there with the 50KW Harris buzzing away at
all the insulators on a HUMID summer night buzzing the dew off
those porcelains. You can hear the music in your TEETH!

Talk about a "warm fuzzy feeling"! Everything metal you touch
burns your skin!...(c;

There is no medial evidence to data that suggests that extended
cellphone usage causes any damage.

Radiation in the cellular spectrum causes heating of the tissue and it
is non-cummulative.

That being said, there is no reason NOT to believe that being on the
phone 24/7 is likley dangerous. Literally everything in excess is bad
in some way, form, or shape.
