I too make 3 - 5 calls a month, and receive about 2.
I've been very pleased with T-Mobile's prepaid service, although they seem to
have recently bumped the rates with no notice. I bought the hundred buck /
1000 minutes (at the time - haven't checked since the apparent price increase)
which immediately put me into what they term "Gold" status. That means all
subsequent purchases, forever, get 15% extra minutes, and one only needs to
throw the minimum $10/year to have remaining minutes rollover.
At the rate I'm going, the price is going to be ten bucks per year for the
foreseeable future. How can one beat that?
I know T-Mobile doesn't have the best signal in some areas, but that happens
not to be relevant for me. Their web site has a rather amazing street-level
map of the US showing the signal strength at any address, and it seems to be
accurate from what I've observed in my travels.
