It's probably a proxy issue.

Some mobile operators connect your mobile to the internet via their own
proxy serve . When you turn on WiFi and try to connect, the mobile is
connecting via WiFi, then trying to find the proxy server which is only
accessible via your mobile operator.

Go into the connection settings (Start/Settings/Connections(Tab)
/Connections) and tap the Advanced Tab and then Select Networks. Makea
note of the current "networks" listed in the two bars displayed. At least
oneis probably named after your operator (i.e. "Orange 3G" or "T-Mobile
Data", etc.)

Tap "edit" under it and then the "Proxy Server" tab and see if a proxyis
entered. If so, back out to the screen with the two network selectionbars
and change them to "My ISP" or "My Work Network" when you use WiFi, and
back to your operator's settings when using mobile data.

If there's no proxy entered in your operator's settings, I don't know what
to tell you- it should be working!

A few questions regarding my MDA Vario III

Are Philips SHB7100 Bluetooth Headphones compatible with my MDA Vario
III? Can I successfully connect this Bluetooth headset to my phone be
able to listen to music? I was disappointed to discover my Jabra BT320
bluetooth headset would only work on the Vario II but not the Vario III.

I’ve also been having an issue connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi.
My phone can find Wi-Fi sources to connect with and then successfully
connect. However, I am unable to access the internet web pages. All I
receive is “The page cannot be found. Check and try again”. I can
still successfully connect and surf the net via GPRS 3G. I’ve been
through the manual and my previous phone was the MDA Ameo, which uses
the exact same steps as the Vario III, to connect to the internet.
Could it be a software issue? If it is of any relevance to the matter,
I also have an Anti-virus programme and Tom-Tom navigator on my phone.

Thanks to all those who offer assistance and reply.
