Ok $700 has been wasted on an iPhone that went south with the cellular
function. Dead! But the ear phone stil works ... but once I tied to
iTunes and upgraded it no longer would work without "activating" the
    phone with AT&T.

Is there a method of over-ruling this restriction?

Is it possible to use a third-party product that could override this
restriction which has to be one that Apple intentionally implemented?

At this point it repeatedly demands a connection to iTune (a piece of
trash) which inturn wants to activate.

Has anyone experienced this and overcome the limitation?

    Thanks,

    Fed Up with Apple!

You know, Lar, you remind me of the gang over at alt.dss.hack a few years
back. People were knocking each other down to get the latest software to put
on their cards. Trouble was, about half of them screwed the cards by trying
to 'jailbreak' them to avoid paying the satellite program provider a proper
fee. When they came back to get another card, they wound up paying out the
nose for their "hobby". What a JOKE!!!

How are things at the Waffle House these days?

Huh? I was agreeing with another poster that jailbreaking was the way
to turn an Iphone coaster into an ipod so he could USE what he PAID A
LOT FOR. That's not Apple's iPhone in his hand. HE paid a big price
for it. He's not stealing sellphone service. He doesn't WANT to buy
sellphone service. He just wants to use it as an MP3 player, outside of
a simple phone, about all it's good for, and even that is hobbled up by
iTunes unless its jailbroken to line Steve Jobs' pockets.

Your contention about the satellite music service is theft of service.
The poster doesn't want to steal sellphone service, he wants rid of it.
Not the same story, at all. Tell us why he shouldn't be allowed to play
his MP3 files on it without paying Jobs and ATT a fine for something he
doesn't want to buy? What a load of bull****....

Waffle House has the same trouble as GM:
    http://www.navarrepress.com/index.php/20081205662/the-
    news/business/beloved-breakfast-biz-files-chapter-11.html
But, they are privately owned so it's hard to tell what they make.

"Retail observers say the bankruptcies of the Tampa and Nashville
franchisees do not appear to have hurt Waffle House’s locations overall.
The privately held chain, second-largest in the US behind Denny’s Corp.,
has 6,000 employees and annual sales of $750 million, according to the
    business information Web site OneSource."

Doesn't seem to have hurt the rest of the company. Wish I'd bought in
in 1955, but I was only 9 years old at the time...(c;]

Do you have trouble with Waffle House?
