My first BIG ampd problem.


Hi everyone, up until now I have had nothing but great things to say about ampd. I have never had anything but small little problems which they have always fixed for me. My last problem actually ended up with me getting a free RAZR from them which they were in no way responsible for giving me.

I realized my problem today when I tried to get my service switched off my Hollywood over to my new RAZR. I called to request the ESN change which I was unable to do because of an overdue balance, this was my fault though. I had to let it lapse because I have been short on cash after the holidays. I was then informed that my overdue balance was 74.07, No problem, I had downloaded some games and stuff so I understood this. I was then informed that my bill for December in addition to my November bill was $573.01!!! I 'believe it, but I had to run to work so I couldn't think about it at the time.

When I got home I went online and looked it over quickly and was surprised to have charges for calls on weekends, I thought they were free! They don't mention anywhere that they are not and since every other provider gives them to you it didn't make sense to me which I explained to them and they agreed and said they were sorry and sent in a form to the finance department but didn't really have high expectations that I would get my money back.

Later I was chatting with my friend who is planning on signing up with ampd soon, explaining to him what happened. I then started adding up the minutes myself.

Total: 1980 for two months (I have a 1000 a month plan)
First month: 770 minutes were used meaning:
I only went over by 210 minutes and was charged: $422.55!!!
( they are only supposed to charge you $.45 for each minute over )

So right there it was double what I should have been, then I noticed the times on the calls. The reason for my high minutes was because I spent hours on hold with the air port because I live in Denver and I was trying to get home for the holidays and we had 2 big blizzards in one week, causing wait times to be hrs!.

Well just in the December month I had 599 minutes that were after 7pm that I was being charged for, so even without the weekends being free I only used:
1210 - 599 = 611 minutes!

I am being charged hundreds of dollars for using 389 minutes below my plan! now I got to wait two weeks for the financial department to get this fixed because they made such a HUGE mistake that regular reps cant do anything with it.

oh and also I see that they charged me 7.25 for one of my text messages, my text messaging is unlimited and free and only .25 for a picture message.

Hopefully they fix the problem now because I called in again with all these numbers and explained to them their huge mistake. I hope ampd helps me out like I'm used to or they are definitely gonna be running into some problems. I will post what the resolution comes out to for you guys, but regardless, such a huge billing mistake should never be made EVER!

well ampd has screwed me again. They said I don't have nights all the sudden even though I had them all along. I need someone to show me a copy of their plan printout from when they sign up please so I know what I am looking for.

Please email me a copy of your plan print out.

Are you a hybrid customer? If you are, they are having issues with the hybrid plans acting like prepaid. It's annoying, but they give you credits to get your phone working.

I suppose I didn't explain my updated situation. I am a regular user with the end the boredom plan. 1000 minutes, unlimited txt.

Now after I reported my situation last time I was told to wait a week to get a reply. I waited for two and then called in and they told me that they had not gotten to it yet, so I waited.....I then call in today after receiving my new bill. My total now is over $700! This obviously includes the last two months, BUT, they did not fix a damn thing, and then did the whole thing over to me once again, charging me for all the nights!

I get a rep on the line and explain the situation and she tells me nights were not enable until January something......This is crap, I have always had nights since the very beginning, and not once out of the times I submitted my complaint did a rep tell me that my complaint wasn't valid for this reason BECAUSE IT WASN'T TRUE! I explain that I have had nights since the beginning and they ask me for printed proof of my original statement ( which is why I want a copy of someone elses so I can know what I need to look for ) I said no! I then said, do you have a signed contract by me? They of course do not because it was done online so I do not know how the hell they even expect to hold people to a contract because the whole thing could just be a fraud...but anyway they say they cannot do anything now without printed proof, so I just need to know what to look for and I am sure I can find my proof and remove all this rip off charges as well as the late fees since obviously I am not paying these people this money.

I had also called in after the first huge bill to confirm nights were on there and I was told that yes, they are and they had been on there since the beginning. I never once made a call requesting it to be added, yet somehow they say it was added in January...makes no sense, the website also has stupid features listed that I cannot remove, their overdose and unlimited package as well as two 500 txt message plans. I have unlimited text and had my first months of the overdose junk free and then tried to remove it over and over and it just comes back, yet they try to defend their site that it works perfect....BS!

Anyway, once I send in my proof of nights from the beginning it will show them they need to change the bill and they have been illegally charging me for weekends meaning they did not hold up to their end of the contract and so I will be free to drop them forever, at no cost to myself.

....I feel so terrible for recommending this company to anyone...sorry if anyone listened to me, if you did I sure hope you have managed to avoid BS issues like mine....

Hmmm. I have the hybrid plan awith the same minutes and stuff. Perhaps switching to that might help after you fix this issue. Have you been dealing with Ampd corporate? Their number is 310-575-2500. Try that if you have not already yet. That is how I get my issues solved. They are in Los Angeles. If you call from your phone, you usually get Las Vegas. Even Corporate has told me that with dealing with their Las Vegas call center, many people have problems. I hope this helps you.

I will try it and I hope it helps. When I find my original plan printout though I plan to send it in, get this fixed, and break out of the contract because I just cant put up with this.

This original plan printout thing doesn't even exist. I got my friend to sign up and he could just cancel it within the 15 so I could see what it looks like. There was no option throughout the signup process to get one and it did not come with the phone. I cannot believe they can get away with this.
