I am hearing that the 3G iPhone does not perform BT file transfer, the BT is for the headset only.
Is this true & if so, will the iPhone synch with outlook over BT?
Thanks much

Re: iPhone BT File Transfer
The answer is no. In fact here is a good article explaining the BT.
Here is some of the article. Click the link if you want the entire story.
Bluetooth flexibility - Right now, all you can use Bluetooth on the iPhone for are headset voice calls, and that's it. This is sufficient for most people, sure, but we would like for Apple and AT&T to open up the Bluetooth profiles for the iPhone. This means we would like stereo Bluetooth and A2DP for streaming music wirelessly, Bluetooth tethering so we can use the iPhone as a modem, and finally we would like to have Bluetooth file-transfer protocol so we can transfer files to and fro the iPhone.

Re: iPhone BT File Transfer
Thanks, I read that article & a few others & infact that is where I got my information from.
It talks about inability do BT file transfer but is still not clear if I can synch with Outlook on my laptop for the calendar, contacts, task list, favorites etc.

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "it will do it over the air. No bluetooth.."

Re: iPhone BT File Transfer
I had an opportunity to play with a friend's brand new 3G iPhone yesterday and here is what I found:
There is nothing in the manuals about pairing with anything but a BT headset
I did pair his HS700 ok, for BT hands free.
I tried to pair with my laptop and his desk top. Both computers see the phone, but I get errors if I go any further.
So I guess the answer to my question is BT synching with Outlook is not possible.
Bummer

Lol, yes absolutely and I do "Luv My Treo". I really wasn't ever considering the iPhone seriously but this seals it completely.
BTW: Over on another forum , there is a thread on how the iPhone's Safari Browser cannot access the WAP site. I make more posts via the WAP on most all forums as you may have noticed.Last edited by charlyee; 07-15-2008 at 09:38 AM. Reason: Added BTW.
