A student at the Canada's Carleton University has come up with a way to extend the battery life of your iPhone or Blackberry. Shamim, a PhD student at Canada's Carleton University, cleverly removed all the wires that connect the electrical circuits to the antenna, and created a module for the connection to operate wirelessly. He reports that his modified devices use almost 12 times less power than they normally do. A paper about the device Shamin had developed, won an award at the European Wireless Technology Conference, and he has filed for a patent in both the US and Canada. There's no mention when we may see this, but there's bound to be companies out there who will want to get their hands on this.
