    Warranty after Jailbreak - Gone

Apple will not honour any warranty after you've modified the phone OS software or hardware-wise.

Hmm you make a very good point. Technically fully restoring it will remove all traces of the "Jailbreaking". However, maybe the tech guys at the Genius Bar, or Apple HQ have ways of tracing any potential modding. To be honest though, a complete Factory Restore, will not, or should not, leave any traces.

I would just go for it. My friend had to return his after the USB "malfunctioned"and it could not be connected to a PC, only charged, and there was therefore no way to restore the OS fully. The guy who served him when he went to get it fixed, noticed it had been Jailbreak-ed, but never said a word and it was replaced.

Jailbreaking the phone though, makes it so much more fun. Realistically, if you take good care of your phone, the warranty should never have to come into the equation. Just go for it mate, you wont regret it.

    (Edit from 10 minutes research)

Right, apparently a full restore leaves a few tiny signs of it being Jailbreak-ed. However it is not noticed when the warranty is being used to replace and give you a new iPhone. The only place it shows up is when they Refurbish it to be sold-on as a refurbishment.

Conversely, other sources say that "Jailbreaking is not unlocking! It is risk free. Everything that works before jailbreaking continues to work after. Jailbreaking only adds features. Jailbreaking is risk free and cannot void your warranty. You can simply restore in iTunes at anytime to get back to a factory state. You are not alone, many people are doing it. Several hundred thousand people are jailbreaking! For understanding of jailbreak vs unlock read my terminology post." This suggests that even if you Jailbreak, you'll be fine for warranty.

It's your decision. Do it or don't, but personally, I don't think there are any risks of doing so.

    Hope this helps
