Not directly because iPhone doesn't have infared transmitter. However, there are add-ons and such that will do the job. I came across them previously, but never took note of the names of those products.

    Re: iPhone Remote Control

There are a few solutions beginning to appear on the market. Redeye (thinkflood.com) was first with an IR blaster using the iPhone's WiFi. NewKinetix (newkinetix.com) has a full database Universal Remote coming out in March. L5 Technology has a learning only remote that's a bit cheaper due out soon. AudioVox should be coming out later this year with a Bluetooth variant of a blaster (based on the old Unify for Life product). WiFi and Bluetooth solutions require an external Blaster that limit your use to the room where its setup in. Dongle solutions are very portable, especially so if you don't need the original remote to learn from (in the local health club or bar). You'll soon have lots of choices.

I'm still partial to the old TV remote...but can see the appeal of integrating the iPhone with it.
