    If you're already on Verizon

The easiest way to do this is to backup your contacts on your Android phone using Verizon backup assistant before deactivating your phone. When you get your new iPhone you will be able to load those contacts using the iPhone version of backup assistant.

If you're on another service using an Android phone
To easiest way to do this is to go directly from your Google contacts to your iPhone using Google Sync. You can find instructions to do this here: Set Up Your Apple Device for Google Sync : Google Sync - Google Mobile Help

If you setup gmail via exchange your contacts will be available.
Make sure you use your full email address as the login and the server in step two is m.google.com. A lot of people put m.gmail.com.

Re: Transfer contacts from Android to Verizon iPhone

I helped my brother to transfer his contacts from his Android to iPhone and I find this process easier and quicker:

    1) Export your contacts to your SD Card. This will create a VCF File
    2) Connect your Android phone to your pc
    3) Access your sd card from your pc, copy the backup, and paste it in your desktop.
    4) Email the file to yourself on the iPhone
    5) Open the file and this will import the contacts to your iPhone.

Another way is to bump (app) your contacts. The bump version for Android doesn't have the option to select all of your contacts and send it all together though. You have to check each of the contacts and bump it. It will automatically save your contacts to your iPhone.

    I hope this helps

Google sync is a good choice to transfer contacts. Or you can use Backuptrans Android Data to iPhone Transfer. It offers a good and easy solution to transfer Data including Music, Video, Photo, SMS Message, Contact, Calendar, Call history, Bookmark etc from Android to iPhone directly on computer. All these data will be merged perfectly on iPhone. Easy to use software and no technical knowledge required.

Well, here I think that both of the two methods are ok. If you do it with the first method, you have to sync the entire address book from the Android device to Google’s cloud Contacts service, and then use Google Contacts service to transfer them to iPhone. But If you want to make use of the third party app , you will finish the transfer more efficiently.

Dreading the hassle that comes with moving your contacts to a new phone? Don't despair. You can transfer your address book from your old phone into your new Verizon iPhone 4 in less than 10 minutes, you don't need a pen and paper, and in most cases, it's free.
Below are instructions for extracting your address book from most phones on the big four U.S. carriers—AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon. There are only two things you need before diving in—active service on your current phone, and a Gmail account (unless you're already a Verizon Wireless subscriber).
