Picked up the iPhone 5s this morning

The most under announced thing about the iPhone 5s is the A7 chip, the 5s blows away everything on the market today.

After playing with it this afternoon i can say surf the internet on Google and Safari, its FAST and Smooth. Purchasing Apps and songs can be made using your fingerprint instead of typing your name and password.

Apple wanted to give me 208.00 for trade in for my iPhone 5, Verizon gave me 300.00, so my upgrade didn't cost me anything, and the line at the Verizon store was about 15 people when i got in line, but they only had black.

5s with IOS 7.0.1 was so annoying, now i can't live without it.

It was annoying as in anytime our habits or patterns change...lol You get use to something, then it changes, then you have to make all new adjustments. After downloading IOS 7 on my 5, it was like having a new phone because of all the changes. That frinday i picked up the 5s, i spent the next few days setting up 7.0.1, and with each time i used the phone, it was a learning process. Today, 7.0.1 is great, i think it's a platform for things to come.

... and its those small changes which are unmentionable in upgrades initially, the ones you have to dig deep to find, like... editing text messages from your text message list. Normally you would go into messages, tap a contact, and all the text messages appear, to clear them, you would hit edit at the top of the page, and then check off an individual text message, or hit DELETE ALL. This would clear text messages from an individual without having to clear the Contact completely. Now, in IOS 7/7.0.1 you to go into your text message list, tap on the contact to display all the text messages as usual, but to edit them, you have to press and hold on one of the bubbles/messages, then some options appear, COPY MORE... SPEAK ...you would then tap on more which gives you the option to edit the text messages.

After setting my options on my iPhone 5s to conserve battery life, i charged it yesterday to 100% around 6pm, and now its at 37%. I've been trying to kill the battery by using my phone to death! I've been surfing the internet, shooting video, streaming video, editing video, and just playing with the phone more than usual.

My settings to conserve battery life are set according to my needs, i don't care about motion wallpaper,background App refreshing, tracking, weather updates, push emails, and i didn't close any Apps which really isn't a battery killer.

my battery @ almost 4pm is 15% …when it hits 10% i'll recharge it. So it's been all most 24 hours of heavy usage, for me anyway, that my 5s needs to be recharged. i'll also download the new 7.0.2 update released today for IOS 7 when i plug it in.

Another thing IOS 7 has thats in the shadows of reviews is that Apple solved a problem that hasn't been able to do for years, how to ensure that if one mode of connecting to a Network fails, your iPhone/Device can seamlessly switch to another mode. They solve it by a system call Multi-path TCP… and IOS 7 has it. The iPhone 5s is an unnoticeable super smartphone.

So far i haven't experienced any problems with iMessage, my 5s is running great, my 5s battery is at least as good as my 5, it shows no drain over night. I did turn off all non-useful options on the phone, i don't need my phone to be pretty, sharp, or a use as a show-and-tell or conversation item, i need it to perform, work to my advantage, and for it to perform to my needs, to be operational at its maximum potential.

I don't have any complaints right now, my Verizon LTE service is great. Everyone tends to play with their phones for like a week because its new and they experiment with the options, and of course the battery seems to suck not realizing how much they play with it. Once you set the battery saving tips and set your essentials, and stop playing with the new toy as i did, the battery will last longer and you'll be able to get a better idea of your phone's battery life.

The battery size in the 5s was increased from 1440 mAH in the iPhone 5 to a 1570 mAH in the 5s, but the 5s IOS 7 does more by default, so adjusting the default settings can increase your battery. I think Apple doesn't want to make iPhone thats too thick, and for that reason i think their objective is to make an iphone that can be used extensively for 18-24 hours while keeping the phone relative thin. They feel the average person can leave the house with a fully charged phone, be on-the-go all day, and shouldn't have to charge the phone until they get home at the end of the day. Of course this is my opinion, i don't think they want a 48 hour battery life at the expense of making the iPhone thicker, keeping it slim with a battery life that can last 24 hours is good enough. JMO
