No More Call Forwarding

I have a Motorola V551 Model cell phone. I have a call forwarding base that I can put the phone on and it will forward my incoming cell phone calls to my land line phone number (at no minute charge). It is the best thing about my phone. Only one phone rings in my office and I only need one phone number. Cingular will honer subscribers with the current call forwarding feature. New subscribers cannot get this feature. My question is what other models of phones have this same feature and can use this same base? I understand that the port plug in on the bottom of the phone will need to be the same and the phone must have the call forwarding feature. But, I don't know what model of phones have these two features. My V551 is on its last leg. Any suggestions?

Re: No More Call Forwarding

This form of call forwarding, called Fast Forward, can be done without the base. You have to use the call forwarding menu in the phone or use the appropriate GSM codes to turn forwarding on or off. You have to remember to undo it or all your calls will be forwarded to the number you set and there will be no voice mail on your wireless phone. The V400, V505, V551, V557 and V600 have the same connection on the bottom

Re: No More Call Forwarding

so hey, i looked back into what i did when i signed up for the free youmail voicemail service.
they use what you were trying to do. call forwarding. this can be done from any phone if you sign up for their service. what you get is a better voicemail system that lets you leave personal greetings for anyone that calls. all calls get forwarded to their system instead of your carrier's. you can check voicemails online to and have notifications sent to you via email.
i set up youmail to forward all my notifications with the voicemail attached as an mp3 when i was traveling recently. that way i could check email and voicemail in one mailbox.
what's cool with youmail, besides that it's free, is that they have a library of pre-recorded cool greetings. they even have some that sounds like your phone's been disconnected. i used that with their ditchmail feature for telemarketers.
anyway, youmail is pretty cool and my gf loves to hear my greeting that i made just for her.
their web site is youmail.com
they're still free and it says they're still in beta.
