Upgrading phone

Hey,

I am elidigiable for a phone upgrade on the 27th of the month. Two phones I have been looking at are the LG CU515 and the Nokia 6555. I really like both of the phones and their features. They both are around the same price range.

So I come to ask you guys, which phone do you think has the better value to it?

Thanks for your help!

Re: Upgrading phone

I like the Nokia 6555 over the LG CU515. GSM LG phones have really improved in terms of reception over the past few years, however, I still prefer the Nokia when it comes to overall reliability. The only thing that I see on the Nokia that might be an issue to someone, is the battery life. Due to the higher resolution of the Nokia 6555's screen over the LG CU515, I think the battery on the LG will be able to go longer on a charge.
Let us know what you decide.

Re: Upgrading phone

I second the Nokia suggestion...I used to work at at&t and most of the LG phones were terrible, I'm not sure if they have gotten any better, but Nokia has remained pretty solid.

Everything I've heard about the 6555 is good, I wouldn't mind having one as the build quality it better than my N75, but I prefer Series 60 to Series 40.

The GSM LG's that AT&T are using now, have gotten alot better than the LG's that they had in the past. However, I still get better 3G reception using either a Motorola or Nokia on AT&T's network.

Good question. I saw the 6555 tonight at the factory store. I may be jumping ship from Verizon. My v60 died completely last night. And, after I folded it backwards to make sure it was dead, I certainly have the motivation to get a new phone. Pretty good deals on that one, the Samsung A537? and can't remember which LG.. I want the most reliable, so the Nokia looks good..

Re: Upgrading phone

heyy first time ever posting in a forum ever and i was wondering if anybody knew of a nice phone to upgrade from what i have right now a normal black Razer v3 Cingular version. i was looking into perhaps a sony ericssion, or a Nokia. i wanted a qwerty keyboard, and possibly a touch screen. the touch screen is not a requirement. i had in the past a perfect Sony ericsson S710a that recently had the microphone stop working so i having a BT headset is the only way i can make calls with that. In two months i can upgrade i was wondering if anybody knew what are some reasonably good choices for AT&T/Cingular

I got my answer today when I switched to ATT. I ended up with the 6555. I am not impressed because I wanted a phone that had some options. Not options with a phone hidden in there. This phone should make some older folks, with no techy background, love to live.. This isn't funny.

Marketing the wares on my phone is not what I canned Verizon for.(buy this, that, and all of this crap)

I would suggest that ATT, and probably all of the carriers, leave the menu driven junkies on one full blown menu (selectable), and leave the rest of us who might want to use a camera every now and then, but mostly need a cellular telephone to make phone calls with much greater ease,, in a minimalist environment. Turn the phone on, offer the shorttest list of options, yet make it real easy to phone somebody. Also, make it real easy to get to a "make a phone call" screen even if you push the wrong button.

I am hopeful that I can delete all of the junk off the phone that I have no need fore. Wishfull thinking? Probably. But if it doesn't make the phone easier to use, I want it off. Or,, I may have to trade it in for a cell phone that doesn't do multimedia, etc..

Re: Upgrading phone

welcome to at&t...all of their branded phones are this way.

If you're that put off and don't mind dropping a few bucks, then you might want to look at some unbranded options!
