Need help choosing a new phone: Me = noob

My contract was up, so i got a Blackjack 2 yesterday. Ive been completely out of the cell phone loop for the past 2 years. They told me I could exchange my phone within 30 days if I want to.

So I started reading about cell phones that are out, and I'm interested in the Tilt also. I'm a little under-informed about 3G and WiFi for phones. Someone referred to WiFi as 'real internet' for phones. Is this a pretty accurate statement? One thing I'd like is to be able to watch youtube videos, as I have a lot of downtime at work. Is this better with the Tilt?

Also, is 3G a big advantage over WiFi? Im under the impression that with WiFi there is no extra charge, whereas with 3G its about an extra $40 per month. If I could avoid the extra cost and still have internet accessibility I would be very happy.

So, which direction should I go?

you cant watch youtube with the tilt unless you get a real time stream video player as far i can remember on the tilt. Second, 3G is the network you will be using when transmitting data, in this case going online to check email and websites. Wi-Fi is an internet connection that is wireless. if your phone is wifi enabled it can find the signal and you can get on the web at fast speeds.

I am not sure if i made myself clear, but yes, wi-fi is free because its not available everywhere, whereas 3G is available in most places where you have a cellphone signal to make calls for the most part.

If you are always browsing the web on your phone then you should get the unlimited internet package. But if you occasionally get on and mostly at places where they have free wi-fi, then dont even bother paying the internet feature for your phone.

there are a couple of hacks out there to let you watch youtube videos on your tilt...my suggestion if you get one is get vtap. Vtap is free and it lets you download youtube and other flash based videos.
