    Hi

I dont have a cell phone or a cell phone plan.

About 2 weeks ago, AT&T was selling cell phones which had cashback deals ( "make $50-$100 after rebates") on some of the simple phones on letstalk.com as well as their own website. There were better offers on letstalk.com.

Now, there arent any more cashback deals but most of the phones are free.

I am tempted by the "cash after rebate" deals as I just want a simple no frills phone and I could get some handy cash as well.

My question is , do these deals just come and go out of the blue? Is it worth waiting for these deals...will I have to wait for a long time?

Is the process of gettign a mail in rebate so complex and confusing that people just get fed up of it?

    Re: Cashback rebate deals letstalk.com?

Please do not go through lets talk. I am in the process of going through them right now. I got a great phone (a samsung eternity) I love the phone. However, the packing slip that came with it says everything is good to go, just turn the phone on and begin using it. this was not the case. I called letstalk and they told me i had to contact ATT. Well i did this. Then I get an email saying that I will have to pay full price for the phone i just received becasue since i went through ATT to make the changes and not letstalk, they cannot get the commission so i have voided their terms. I have talked w/ someone there yesterday and she said I did everything right and should not of gotten any email from them threatening to charge me for the phone but then I get another email today stating the same thing. I once again called letstalk and now they are saying i voided their agreement by me going through my cell phone provider instead of letstalk. They now want me to call back ATT and have me reverse my contract extension so they can do it for me. (Something they said was done right out of the box) Please beware when ordering from this site. Make sure you do not make any changes to your current cell phone. If they tell you to contact your cell phone company, DO NOT make any changes to your accoutn. Just have them activate the sim card, thats it.

The thing to keep in mind with Rebates from companies like Letstalk; THEY ARE A PAIN IN THE A$$ TO REDEEM! They will want copies of each and every bill after you have been with that carrier for several months. You can't change the rate plan to a lower priced plan before that Rebate is processed. You can't miss any payments or be late. And if you cancel within (I think it is 6 months), or have your service is turned off; then you owe the ((FULL PRICE)) of that phone. Those companies go out of their way to Void rebates. So if the Rebate isn't Instant; then don't bother.

Just read their terms carefully. The deals are great, but you run the rick of being screwed over if you don't follow each rule to the T. If they do try and rip you off, file a complaint with PlanetFeedback: Voice of One, Power of Many, www.my3cents.com, www.measuredup.com, ect; and with the Federal Trade Commission and Better Business Bureau.

I have the same issue, I don't have a cell phone nor do I have a plan but according to my employer I can get up to 75% off any AT&T hardware and service plan

I guess im stuck in the ice age though because its all good with my voip through vonage. I don't feel like I have a leash strapped to my side.

On a second note, it never hurts to call and ask because some sales reps wont mention rebates because they don't want to take the extra time to do the paperwork. Im still waiting on my DSL rebate.

I have order from lets talk in the past, and have had no problem with them or the rebates. There are other sites that offer rebates, too. just search "free cell phones", sometimes the service sites like verizon and so on have deals too. Most service sites have refrebished phones cheap too. I know there's on stie called wirefly that has cash bask offers, I have never used there site befoe so I don't know if they are good or not.
