Alright i know people have proboly flooded this forums with the same question but what i want to know is what are the speeds of EDGE (mainly from the iphone) vs 3g? I don't know whether to buy my iphone now or later when the 3g one comes out. I would preferably like real stats for example XXkb/s and if possible a source. Thanks!

Re: Edge and 3g, i need numbers/stats
kilobyte: 1,000 bytes
Megabyte: 1,000,000 bytes
EDGE: Real World Speeds 150-234 KiloBytes per second
Maximum Speed with AT&T Software : 234kps
HSPDA 3G: Real World Speeds (varies per area and device):
700kps-1.4 Megabytes per second
AT&T Nokia 3G device Real World 234-400kps
(they run a lesser form of 3G called UMTS)
Maximum HSDPA 3G Speeds: (which you'll see sometime next year)
3.6 Megabytes per second
On Apple.com you see advertised typical speeds which is real World speeds of 1.4 mbps for Iphone 3G
Iphone 1.0 had Wifi to make up for the lack of 3G. Iphone 1.0 did not have 3G because the 3G chips used at the time of development did not have the battery life Apple wanted.
