Using New phone with new account

I posted a thread related to this earlier. Well my contract doesn't end until the 14th of August and I saw a deal that said I can get a Motorola Razr v3xx (i really want one lol) for free if I sign up to AT&T with a new account instead of renewing my 2 year contract. So I'm gonna have a new phone number, I guess I don't mind that but my question is can I use my little smart card from my old phone and plug it into the razr. Like if i get my new account and phone before my old one expires. Or is that illegal (lol).

It is not illegal, but why do you want to do that? If it is to maintain the existing number then you will be be paying for both lines, the new one for the duration of it's contract and the exisyting one for as long as you want to keep it.

Maybe I am not understanding your reason? Also the V3xx is $150 with a 2 year contract, are you sure it is not the V3 refurb?

lol, oh ok I thought it would add an extra charge. Never mind about that then. I guess I'll wait it out till August and then get that new account/phone. My dad saw the deal for the v3xx and it was on some other website like slickdeals or something like that, not the AT&T one. Because I saw the AT&T one they had a refurbished v3 but it got sold out lol..

I am with you, waiting even a month for a new phone seems like an eternity. I am glad you decided to wait though. One word of caution be careful of websites offering "such a deals", maybe you want to ask around here, if anyone had any experience with that particular website.


The AT&T V3 refurb deal seems to be still available over the web. ofcourse they maybe sold out by 8/14.

my dad said the deal would last till august 14th and i think the site is decent. Whatever, if it causes a problem its his fault and I'm getting my RAZR one way or another haha.
