SIM questions

Hello,
I have an AT&T 3G Go Phone SIM card. Can I use this in a Blackberry Pearl and still utilize all the functions of the phone?

A BlackBerry Pearl requires a BlackBerry data plan, which cannot be obtained with a prepaid account, for full functionality.

So even with AT&T's pre-paid data option MEdiaNet? Will I at least be able to access e-mail and web pages?

The only things that will work are text messages, voice and voice mail. All the data functions of the BlackBerry Pearl are routed through the RIM servers. The BlackBerry browser will not work without a BlackBerry data plan. You might be able to use Opera Mini for access to the web, but you would have no way to download it to the phone. You would have to download it with a computer and use either Bluetooth or a cable to get it onto the phone.

Depending upon which Blackberry Pearl you have, you could have Wi-Fi capability. The Wi-Fi browser will not work without a Blackberry data plan in the BlackBerry Pearl.

Will the Pearl if you have the regular contract plan or would you still need to get a data plan. I was going to get a ATT Blackberry Pearl off a friend. Going to switch to ATT. Will I too have limited capability on my phone?

Without a Blackberry data plan, a BlackBerry Pearl is simply a phone with a keyboard.
