After 1.5 years, I've pretty much had it with AT&T and the iPhone. In the last 3-4 months, AT&T service has degraded considerably in the NYC metro area - I can barely make a call without having 1-2 immediate drops or call failures.

Anyways, I want to switch to Verizon (especially now that their Droid is coming out). Anyone know of any current means to get out of my contract?

Yeah, tell them you want to cancel your contract and pay the bills they send you!

I know it sounds sarcastic, but its the only way, other than finding a contract change that changes YOUR monthly plan or costs and will not be able to be reveresed from your bill.

By switching to Verizon, my guess is that you've very likely to incur substantial early termination fees if you just quit the contract, but I thought I'd mention a method that you might want to use to significantly cut both your current AT&T costs and then your Verizon Droid bill in the future. In doing this, you can at least try to make up some of the expense of dropping AT&T. We tend to think of wireless costs as fixed, but you can tinker with your plan to optimize your features to best suit your usage and often save significant cash in the process. U can just call them up and tell them they don't provide good service and u want 2 switch providers w/ no ETF. That's wat I did w/ verizon and I switched to AT&T

They won't do that anymore. Even if you move to an area of poor coverage. If you want out of your contract, you have to pay the ETF.
They do not guarantee coverage.

I agree. You received your iPhone with a discount. AT&T picked up the rest of the tab, and you promised to use it for two years. 6 months left is not a long time, but I would call AT&T and complain about the service. If you really want out of your contract and have some time call them every time you drop a call. They will get the message after the first 30 or so calls to complain.

Really, I would just wait the six months and then move to another provider.

Is that a way to get out ??
