    other then the cancellation fee?

I'm 1.5 in and want the new Bold.
Through AT&T I would pay 450.00 right now
Online group has it for 69.99 w/ a 2 year contract
Whats to stop me from canceling, eating the 175.00 fee and immediatly opeing a new account through the online group?

    Thank you for your time

You have to wait at least 6 months before opening a new account with AT&T, otherwise, they put you back on your old account with the same conditions.
You will not be considered a new customer until after 6 months.

If you have to have that phone, add a second line and cancel it after thirty days. You pay the ETF, any charges for service and keep the phone. You can use the phone on either line by giving Customer Service the IMEI and adding the appropriate data plan. You should check the rules of the reseller to see if they impose additional penalties for cancellation or switching the phone to another line. If you started the contract after May 25, 2008, it could be cheaper to cancel the original contract after adding the second line. ETF is prorated after that date. You would lose your number that way.
