I am part of an Unlimited Messaging Family Plan on AT&T, and my LG Xenon has AIM, Windows Live, and Yahoo! Messenger built into it. I was wondering if you would be charged as using the internet/data usage if you signed into them? Or would it just fit into the "messaging" category and just count as messaging and no data?
Reason being is that I'm always away from my computer, and there are certain people I need to talk to during the day that don't have phones, but have messenger. I don't have a data plan, so it would be a problem if my bill got raised to sky-high levels because the instant messenger on my phone was being billed as data usage. Thanks in advance for the help!

Re: Does using built in Instant Messenger charge if...?
IMPORTANT: The cost for using Instant Messaging via the wireless phone depends on the function. Please refer to the following chart to determine how Instant Messenger is billed when using Mobile IM or AT&T IM.

Application update
Add/remove/update contacts

Signing Out
*You are charged $0.20 for each message you send and receive unless you are on a Text/Instant Messaging package.
**All usage counts towards included rate plan Megabytes.
***Data availability is required and is not billed
