I have had ATT for about 2years now. This problem I have has just recently appeared. We have 2 phones on our account. They are from Nokia and iPhone.
First, I do not make too many outgoing calls (less than 1 per day). In the past week, I cannot make an outgoing call on my iPhone from my home cell tower. I can on the Nokia. I really believe it is unique to my phone number and not the phone itself. It started when I had my iPhone 3G. In the last 2 days, I have switched to iPhone 4 (same account and #). The same thing is happening with it.
I have no problem receiving calls and I have and always have all 5 bars.

I tried to explain this to ATT tech support and pretty much fell on to deaf ears. I have no problem making calls once I am away from this area. I can go a few miles away and have no problem. It's only at my home location.

I assume their are folks on this forum that know the workings of cellular. How can I explain better to tech support my problem. Hopefully I explained it well enough here. If not, please ask me questions to elaborate.

It may simply be a marginal coverage area, which is why AT&T isn't willing to help. They aren't going to go out and build a new tower for one or two customers.

Now that you have the iPhone 4, they will listen to you even less since the iPhone 4 is KNOWN for dropping calls.

Thanks, but I'm not sure you understand the gist of my question.

Is it possible that one particular cell tower rejects a call from a particular number? I would think that cell towers read data such as the phone number when a call is initiated. This happens to be at my home. Otherwise, I wouldn't really care.
As I said, for the last 2 years, my calls have had no problem up until a week ago.
