When a caller is sent to my voice mail, they hear the standard dogma, "To leave a message, press 1" followed by other options.

Once 1 is pressed or if the caller waits for it, they next here, "Please leave a message after the tone. When you are finished, you can hang up or press pound for more options."

    Really?

Leaving a message should not be that hard.

I'd like mine customized to say something simple like, "You have reached my cell phone. Please leave a message."

That's it! Then, voice mail should go BEEP and my caller should just leave a message.

Yeah, I know that, Batman. But whatever I record is going to be "in addition to" the crap that is played every time.

Re: How To: Remove Voice Mail Prompts

Thanks. I've been to that menu and filtered through that tree many times.

I still can't get the voicemail's automated attendant to just turn off.

I'd like to find a secret code that does this.

Press the "1" before the prompt.

Re: How To: Remove Voice Mail Prompts

Either you don't understand the question or you are trying to suggest a "work around".

    I don't want a "work around".

I'm looking for a way to TURN OFF all of the voicemail prompts. I want it to sound like one of those old answering machines from 20 years ago that simply says, "Hi. This is Earl. Leave a message."

If you don't know how to do that, kindly stop commenting.

Re: How To: Remove Voice Mail Prompts

What you want to do cannot be done with the AT&T Voicemail System, Since you do not have to listen to your own voicemail greeting, live with the limitations or choose an outside vendor. You should appreciate the only responses you have received.

To the contrary, I would have rather had this thread see 0 replies until someone came along that actually knew a way to turn off the automated system. ...even if it sat at 0 forever.

Re: How To: Remove Voice Mail Prompts

Just a reminder, responses to messages in this forums are not just for the benefit of the person asking the questions. Responses are for the benefit of all. If you cannot abide by that concept, perhaps you should not participate in public forums. If responses do not meet your needs, you should disregard them rather than attack the responder.

Re: How To: Remove Voice Mail Prompts

You should go back to the top and review my initial post and your solution to it. If I hadn't responded, people would have thought, "That dummy didn't know how to change his voicemail greeting?"

Now, all it appears to be is you trying to get in the last word.
