My dad passed away 11/27/10. My sister called A T & T to downgrade his phone service to just local calls & no long distance. They took it upon themselves (without telling her) to automatically disconnect the phone service. We have had that number for 30 + years & some of his friends don't even know he has passed yet!!!!! We have called customer service numerous times to try to get them to put the account in our names & get the number back, but keep getting the run around. They say that if there is no surviving spouse then there policy is to cancel the account, but they didn't even tell us they were doing it! I have faxed over numerous letters & proof of identification, no one has answered. So, first we lose our dad & we lost our mom 3 years before this & now we lose our phone number that we have had for 30 YEARS!!!!!! In this day & age with technology there has GOT to be a way they can get us that number back! If anyone from A T & T sees this CONTACT ME A-holes!!!
